The Embassy of Switzerland in India has been doing many projects on occasion of the 70th anniversary celebrations of the Swiss Indian Friendship. One of the projects is “Swiss Films on Wheels”. This is a fully equipped bus travelling with two films for children (Heidi, and My Life as a Zucchini) across several states. It is an exciting project where the bus has travelled to many remote pockets of India, reaching out children above 10 to 12 years with the films and discussing with them at the same time the themes on Friendship, respect, tolerance… core values which are the essence of intercultural relationships.

The children at Ek Tara are thrilled to meet “Heidi”!!

An art competition was held on the 3rd of October at Ektara. The theme was “Cultural Diversity of India”.

Nutrition fete was conducted on the 31st of October by the nutrition department at Ektara.

We would like to thank Daan Utsav for organizing a visit to the Birla Planetarium. The children had the opportunity to learn about the universe and also be apart of the magic show.

Our Non Formal girls had an exciting yoga session with Ms. Hala Okeili on the 27th of September.

On the 22nd of September a magic show was conducted for the Montessori children at Ektara.

Ashish Sharma, a youngster from Delhi who is walking 17,000 kilometres to bring an end to child begging visited us on the 20th of September. He address the children and is an inspiration to all of us.

Fly High India volunteered at Ektara on the 15th of September. They conducted a number of fun activities with the children, which they really enjoyed.

Garbage Free India, invited our children to take part in “My Smart City, My Clean City” drive, a CSR initiative by Diamond Group. Our children took part in the fashion show event. All the clothes designed were made from plastic waste and scraps.

Ektara celebrated Independence Day with a cultural programme.

Ektara took part in the “Art with Purpose” on the 7th of July. The theme this year is “Your Message to the Indian Soldier”

Nukkad Natak was held at Mazdurpara on the 28th of June, about mosquito borne diseases. Fast cards were also distributed to the audiences.

Ektara participated in the cultural programme organised by the Interact Club of Sri Sri Academy on the 12th of May.

Eye, dental and a general medical check up was organised at Ektara for the children, on the 24th of April, by Hyatt.

Trainings and Workshops

Mental health workshop with educators on positive reinforcement among children.
Our Counsellor did  goal alignment with the teachers along with introduction of positive words for feedback to children and their families

A CPR workshop was conducted by our Ms. Emily Fone with the teachers on 10th October.

Our in-house nutritionist Ms. Sanchita Chakrabarty conducted a fun workshop with the mothers and the children on the 8th of September.They made some yummy “poustik laddus” which not only was scrumptious but also very nutritious and healthy.

Goal orientation is the degree to which a person or organization focuses on tasks and the end results of those tasks.
On the 27th and the 31st of August workshop on goal orientation was conducted with the staff members at Ektara.

On the 30th of June, an in-house workshop on Child Protection Policy was conducted for the Primary Section teachers.

On the 30th of June, Utkarsh training was conducted for the Primary Section teachers.

Our in-house nutritionist Ms. Sanchita Chakrabarty conducted a nutrition workshop with the community parents.

Utkarsh training was conducted on the 19th of June for the Primary Section teachers.

On the 5th of May a workshop was conducted by the students of J.D Birla Institute on healthy eating habits for the community mothers.

On the 10th of April a workshop was conducted by Kidotronics on robotics. The children were thrilled to make their own little bots.

Awards and Achievements

Congratulations to all the women who have successfully completed their stitching course at Ek Tara.

Ektara’s support staff took part in Pinkathon which was held on the 1st of April at Maidan.  In order to raise breast cancer awareness, the women involved in the marathon, ran 3 Km and each received a medal for it.
