Navreen Aslam

Navreen comes from one of the most economically deprived families associated with Ek Tara. She lives with her parents and 3 younger brothers. Her parents recently moved to Kolkata suburbs as they could no longer afford to live in the Topsia slum. They currently live in a 110 sq ft room using a common toilet along with 6 other families.

Her father is an auto driver and her mother a housewife suffering from tuberculosis and currently undergoing treatment. Navreen was in Loreto Rainbow School till class 5 and then was enrolled at Indira Academy as she had fairly good results. She is currently studying in class 7.

A very smart and confident child Navreen is not only good in academics but performs exceptionally well in extracurricular activities. Her favourite subjects are English & Social Science. Her martial arts talent was discovered during her Karate classes at Ek Tara following which she was enrolled by her coach in state level competitions where she successfully secured 2nd position and a silver medal. She has since participated in other competitions and performed well. She also has keen interest in football. Her social skills are very good and she displays good leadership qualities.
